James Humphrey. Hennessey, son of Jeremiah Hennessey and Elizabeth Haney, was born in West Chester, PA on January 4, 1854. He married Ellen Aloysius Raftery in 1882 in Philadelphia, PA. He died on November 24, 1922 in Philadelphia, PA. He was an engineer on the P.B.& W. Division of the Pennsylvania Railroad (P.R.R.), running between Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

James Humphrey’s will dated 10/11/1922
I, J. HUMPHREY HENNESSY, being of sound mind, do hereby make this my last Will and Testament.
FIRST. I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid out of my estate.
SECOND. I give the sum of five dollars ($5.00) each to my daughter Josephine (Mrs. James A. Kane), my son Harry A. Hennessey, my son Charles A. Hennessy and my niece Elizabeth M. Keely; this I do with no intention of slighting them but with the feeling that they are well able to provide for themselves.
THIRD. Al the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, real, personal, and mixed (including moneys in bank, insurance benefits, railroad relief benefits, or any other moneys that may be due me) I give, devise and bequeath to my trustee hereinafter named, IN TRUST, to hold and manage the same and to pay over the income therefrom, after deducting all inheritance taxes and expenses incident to this trust, to my daughter Nellie Loretta Hennessy in equal installments after deducting therefrom such living expenses as my said daughter may incur from time to time. If the property known as No. 48 North 38th Street, in the City of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, (which is included in this trust) should be unsold at the time of my death I hereby empower my said trustee to sell the same and to invest the proceeds thereof in good securities or mortgages and to apply the income therefrom to the living expenses of the said Nellie Loretta Hennessy and to pay over to her the remainder of such income in equal installments as provided for above.
FOURTH. I give to my said trustee the power generally to make investments and reinvestments and to alter, vary or change investments, and reinvestments, in any stocks, bonds, securities or other property, without being confined to those classes of securities which are named by low as proper investments for trustees.
FIFTH. Upon the marriage or death of my said daughter Nellie Loretta Hennessy, I direct that my estate be divided into as many equal parts as there may be children surviving me and that such equal parts shall be paid to each of my said surviving children absolutely, with the exception of the share of the aforesaid Nellie Loretta Hennessy which share shall continue to be held in trust and the income therefrom paid over to her as theretofore.
SIXTH. I nominate, constitute and appoint my niece Elizabeth M. Keely sole executrix and trustee of this my Last Will and Testament and I direct that she need not enter security or file and fidelity bond, nor need she file any inventory of my estate.
IN WITNESS THEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and seal to this Will, written on two pages of paper, each of which is signed by me this 11th day of October, A.D. 1922.
